Comments From Others

"The years I lived at Christian Village were the best years of my life."

Marjorie Gladson, former resident (1996-2009)

"For seven years I worked as a hospice nurse in San Angelo.  During that time, I traveled extensively counties that make up the Concho Valley.  I also worked in other offices within that company in Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and Fort Worth.  In all these counties and cities I had the opportunity to visit clients who lived in government assisted apartments like Christian Village.  I can, without reservation, make the claim that Christian Village is far superior to any other government assisted apartment that I frequented.  From landscaping to renovation to activities, Christian Village far exceeds anything else that I saw and experienced."

Son of Ruth Stephenson, Resident since 1994

"I cannot tell you what Christian Village has meant to us.  Mom went from sitting in her chair all day depressed and feeling bad and sorry for herself to a laughing, happy person.  My sisters and I cannot remember her being so happy.  Christian Village has been such a blessing to Mom and our family."

Daughter of Doreece Blake, Resident since 2007

"I am thrilled to be at Christian Village. I only wish I had known about it 20 years ago!"

Edna White, age 82, resident since 2009

Dee Underwood moved to Texas from Iowa in 1988 to be closer to her son. When she walked in to Christian Village, she felt the building opened its arms and welcomed her.  She said, "This is where I want to live!" That made the transition to Texas much easier, and she has enjoyed every year since.

"When I found a job in San Antonio, I started looking at places comparable to Christian Village in San Antonio to move my mother closer to me.  To  be honest, I have not found anything (Section 8) that even resembles Christian Village. The layout, with its very well kept inside hallways, makes it a delight in winter and summer.  Maintenance is excellent.  My mother needed a closet door fixed and it was done the same day she requested it.

The location is wonderful.  Albertson's, Big Lots, and the Dollar Store are within walking distance, and no streets have to be crossed.  I also noticed a new community garden behind the building, which I believe was a great endeavor to please the residents.

I believe Christian Village is a great place for seniors.  San Antonio has many senior homes, but those classified as Section 8 do not come even close to comparison to Christian Village.  Only when you pay market rent, do you find comparable housing.  Thank you all for having the BEST affordable senior housing, not only in San Angelo, but in my opinion, San Antonio."

Jorge E. Cuellar, son of Alicia Hernandez, resident since 2006
